Great movie and a very good job of keeping it close to the book.

Loved all of the film adaptations of these books.

It was good and really shook me, but I didn't give it a higher rating because it didn't rise to the level of 'Catching Fire'. But I still loved it.

The best in the series, in my opinion. Though there are some differences, I feel like the movie actually did it better.

Mockingjay Part 1 is based on the third and final book in the Hunger Games trilogy, for cinematic purposes, the book was separated into two parts for the movies. In this part, it starts with Katniss after destroying the barrier in the arena being taken to District 13, the district that was long thought destroyed many years ago. District 13 is home to the rebellion, whose goal is to take down the capital and end the Hunger Games once and for all. Katniss becomes the face of the rebellion empowering the districts to fight together and take down the capital. Katniss fights to bring Peeta home from being captive by the capital and restore peace and equality throughout the districts. I would recommend this movie for the empowering message that could be applicable to many real-life situations. @GoosReviews of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library

This was supposed to be the third, and final, movie for the three part book series, but again the series has fallen prey to splitting one book into multiple movies. They are trying to make as much money as possible, at the expense of everyone who tries to watch it. This movie drags on as the director tries to stretch and pull the content of one book to fill out two movies. This movie is boring and hopefully got the shorter end of the stick when it came to parts of the book, because the only thing that can redeem this movie is for part two to be amazing. I would give this 2 out of 5 Stars.

It's hard to give this film three stars, but there it is. The Hunger Games trilogy consists of Hunger Games, Catching Fire, and the third novel broken into Mockingjay 1 and Mockingjay 2. The last novel should never have been split across two films. Greed kind of ruined it. You could skip this film entirely and watch Mockingjay 2 and still not miss much. Most of the filler is in this half. It starts out with the last scene from Catching Fire in which Peeta is captured by the Capitol and Katniss is saved by Haymitch and Plutarch. She's taken to District 13 where she becomes the symbol of the rebellion, the Mockingjay. It's clear that Plutarch and the rebellion's military leader, President Coin, have their own agenda. Katniss's only agenda is to get Peeta back. The film ends just as they succeed in saving Peeta and he tries to kill Katniss, strangling her with such force her throat is almost crushed. Then comes Mockingjay 2 which totally makes up for the lameness of part 1.

Worse than the book. And the book was awful.

Though I was a bit disappointed with what Twilight did with Breaking Dawn Part 1, Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 1 was a bit slow at the pacing but it was an excellent first half overall. Loved Julianne Moore's performance as President Alma Coin and the movie followed the book pretty well enough to meet my expectations. Nothing more than a set up for the big finish in Part 2.

Final Hunger Games movie out now in theaters. This title is not as action packed as the first two. More of a set up for the finale

Mockingjay--like the Hobbit series--would have been better as one film. But still, this first installment is not without merit and is certainly worth watching.
This is a different war film than probably any previously released. This film is not about the military aspect of war but about the propaganda side of it; who will we gain the support of the people? Saying this, if you prefer action films, this movie is not for you. But if something such as the nature of a propaganda war interests you, you will find this film interesting. The most powerful and poignant aspect of this film is the use of Katniss as a mockingjay symbol. Her costume is just breathtaking, and it is fascinating to watch how and why she resonates so strongly with the common people.
