The Very Busy Spider
Book - 1984
The farm animals try to divert a busy little spider from spinning her web, but she persists and produces a thing of both beauty and usefulness. The pictures may be felt as well as seen.

Excellent book. My 5 year old daughter loves hearing this story over and over as well as "The very hungry caterpillar"
Liked the Catterpillar beter
I love all the artwork in these books. Read this to my daughter - age 5 - I don't think she disliked it, but she didn't ask me to read it to her again. The repeating words worked for her, as she could easily see them, and knew what to say when I would pause, she could fill in the blank.
I remember reading this book as a child and loving it, now I'm reading it to my own daughter. While I find the book slightly repetitive now, my daughter thoroughly enjoys it. The pictures are vibrant and colorful and my daughter likes to touch the spider's web. A good choice if you have a toddler (especially if your toddler loves bugs and animals as much as mine does.).
Not one of Eric Carle's best works, but not exactly bad, either. Highly repetitive text becomes borderline dull after a few readings. Pages are imprinted with tactile as well as visual information--a device that may prove useful for sight-impaired listeners, but didn't hold much sustained interest for our 3-year-old.
