Helen's grandparents, the Cornings, are frightened by a sinister wheel of blue fire that appears after dark in the woods outside their home at lonely Sylvan Lake. When Nancy discovers the significance of the eerie signal, she also learns that her two mysteries are connected.

She soon discovers that an elderly woman is somehow being held as a prisoner in a mansion. Simultaneously, Nancy's friend gives her another mystery to solve regarding a mysterious wheel of blue fire. Nancy soon discovers that the two mysteries are connected. The dangers that Nancy faces throughout her investigation adds to how engaging the book was due to the suspense involved. The suspense and unique concept of the story keeps the reader engaged, making the book quite interesting. Overall, the action and suspense in the book make Password to Larkspur Lane a very interesting book to read.
Pretty much what we would expect from a Nancy Drew novel. I did enjoy this one and will reread others in the series.
