Nuala occasionally has visions from the past. This time, while driving down Lake Shore Drive, she is overwhelmed by the screams of thousands of dying men. Dermot begins investigating and discovers that it was the site of the most notorious Union prison camp of the Civil War - Camp Douglas. He finds that conflicting records surround the conspiracy of what became known as the Camp Douglas Massacre. Nuala feels the pain of the tormented souls who want the truth to finally come out, but the investigation turns into much more when Nuala is pursued by alleged members of the IRA, and is arrested as an art thief. Dermot might be able to protect her from the thugs, but what can he do against a corrupt and uncaring bureaucracy threatening to ship his love back to Ireland?
